Mount Fuji is the highest (3,776 m =12,389 ft) and most beautiful mountain in Japan.
We normally climb the Fuji for acclimatization training center.
To avoid the crowd I prefer low season, in July or late September.
(Its impossible to run the trail in high season these days.)
No shops or huts available above 5th station, so this option needs more strength and preparing.
And I am sure its worth.
From Fuji Subaru line 5 gou me station, for me running up and down takes 3 and a half hours and I sometimes plus running around the summit crater of Fuji (30 minutes).
Above 8th station, there was still plenty of snow in June.
Even though this part was a bit steep, not so slippy at this time. I had no problem with my very normal running shoes.
